Novelist, Club member Tom Young plans to discuss latest military novel, ‘Red Burning Sky’ at virtual event, Thursday

Novelist and Club member Tom Young plans to discuss his latest military-thriller adventure novel "Red Burning Sky" on Thursday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. at a virtual event hosted by the National Press Club's Member Author Group.

"Red Burning Sky" is based on the true story of a daring and successful rescue mission of pilots shot down over Yugoslavia during World War II. The fictionalized account of the mission that became known as Operation Halyard takes its place alongside the author’s other books including "The Mullah’s Story," "Silent Enemy," and "The Warriors."

Young served in Afghanistan and Iraq with the Air National Guard, flew combat missions to Bosnia and Kosovo, and logged nearly 5,000 hours as a flight engineer while flying to almost 40 countries. After 20 years of service, his military honors include the Meritorious Service Medal, three Aerial Achievement Medals and the Air Force Combat Action Medal.
