NPC Communicators "Lunch and Learn" on how to publish a book, Nov. 19

Two National Press Club Communicator members who are also successful authors will provide advice to aspiring writers about how to publish a book during a "Lunch and Learn" hosted by the Communicators Team on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 12 p.m.

Registration to the online professional development session is free for Club members. Participants will receive a link to access the Zoom call before the event. Click here to register.

The session will feature Ed Barks and Edward Segal, longtime Club members and veteran communications and business management experts. They each have recently written books for professional communicators.

Barks is the author of “Reporters Don’t Hate You: 100+ Amazing Media Relations Strategies,” a reliable and convenient go-to guide for working with the media. It is the third book he has published independently.

Segal also recently released his third book, “Crisis Ahead: 101 Ways to Prepare for and Bounce Back from Disasters, Scandals, and Other Emergencies.” It was published by Nicholas Brealey, part of the Hachette Book Group, one of the world’s largest publishers of trade and educational books.

The two authors will describe the merits of going on your own or working with a publishing company to reach desired audiences. They will also review how technology and the Internet have impacted the publishing industry since releasing their first books several years ago.

Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions directly to the authors during the session.

The Club Communicators Team hosts the "Lunch and Learn" series to provide professional tips and techniques for Club members. Previous topics have included discussions about crisis communications, social media strategy, media relations, outreach to government officials and the state of the public relations industry.
