NPC Election day is Dec. 7; American Legion Post 20 to host forum for candidates at Dec. 3 meeting

The National Press Club's American Legion Post 20 will host its annual Candidates Forum for Club 2019 officer and board positions at a luncheon meeting on Monday, Dec. 3, at noon in the McClendon Room.

All candidates are invited to make brief remarks on their qualifications, goals and priorities for next year. Club election day is Dec. 7.

The candidate portion of the meeting is open to all Club members.

Post 20 was founded in 1919 and has been associated with the Club ever since. It was started at the suggestion of famed World War I Gen. John 'Black Jack' Pershing, who was an associate Club member. Gen. Pershing was instrumental in founding the American Legion, also in 1919.

Nominations closed Oct. 26.

Candidates and their bios are available online.

Online voting will start Monday, Nov. 26. Online polls will close Thursday, Dec. 6, and in-person voting will take place at the Club on Friday, Dec. 7, from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Announcement of the results and celebrations will follow.
