NPC extends journalism contest deadline to May 17

The National Press Club extended the deadline for its prestigious journalism awards to May 17.

The Club is especially seeking entries for its Rowse Award for exceptional media coverage, creative online news journalism, animal rights coverage, the Gingras Award for humor writing and news photos. Other categories include coverage of issues specific to other people, foreign affairs, aviation and technology, newsletter journalism, Washington regional reporting and breaking news.

Most of the categories include cash prizes and some offer a year of free Club membership. Details on the categories and the prizes are found at the website below. The entry fee is $75 for non-members and free for club members. The contest offer journalists a chance to have their work recognized by the Club, one of the leading journalism organizations in the country for more than a century.

The awards will be presented at an event this summer.
