NPC members get free tickets for Tibetan film Tharlo to be screened Monday, Sept. 24

National Press Club members are invited to a screening of the film Tharlo and a discussion with award-winning Tibetan film director Pema Tseden on Monday, Sept. 24, hosted by the Confucius Institute U.S. Center.

The film will be shown at the First Amendment Lounge at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The event is free for Club members. For complimentary tickets, click here.

Tharlo, made in 2015, tells the story of an orphaned Tibetan shepherd whose life is changed forever after a brief encounter with a woman in his local town. The black-and-white film is a deeply political, romantic and philosophical narrative fable from Tseden, one of Tibet's leading contemporary artists.

Tseden, who is also a writer, was most recently awarded the Orizzonti Award for best screenplay for the film Jinpa during the 75th Venice Film Festival.
