NPC members to receive discount for dinner honoring Gwen Ifill

National Press Club members are invited to attend the annual toast dinner of the American News Women's Club Monday, May 19, at which broadcast journalist Gwen Ifill will receive the club's Excellence in Journalism Award for 2014.

The dinner, to be held at the National Press Club, benefits scholarships for aspiring journalists.

Ifill is being recognized for her lifetime of groundbreaking professional accomplishments. Other icons in her field who have received the award include Walter Cronkite, Helen Thomas, Bob Schieffer, Cokie Roberts, Judy Woodruff and Barbara Walters. Past recipient Candy Crowley of CNN will be this year's Mistress of Ceremonies.

Also present to roast Ifill will be Slate magazine chief political correspondent and CBS News political director John Dickerson; ABC News chief global affairs correspondent Martha Raddatz; CNBC chief Washington correspondent and The New York Times political writer John Harwood;, and former Washington Post columnist Dorothy Gilliam.
