NPC President John Hughes is guest at Communicators Breakfast, July 29

NPC President John Hughes is scheduled to talk about his other job as a breaking-news editor for Bloomberg News at the Communicators Breakfast on Wednesday, July 29 at 8:30 a.m. in the NPC's Truman Lounge.

Admission is free for Press Club members and $10 for guests, who must be accompanied by a member, and includes continental breakfast starting at 8 a.m. Click here to register.

Hughes is an editor for Bloomberg First Word, the news organization’s breaking-news desk in Washington. While serving as NPC president, Hughes works from his office at the Club, where Bloomberg has installed computer monitors and equipment for him to perform his editing duties.

Prior to becoming an editor, Hughes was Bloomberg's aviation and transportation reporter for more than a decade. He joined Bloomberg in 2000, and previously worked for The Associated Press at bureaus in Detroit and Washington, and at the Small Newspaper Group’s Washington bureau.

A native of Minnesota, Hughes started his career there, working for the St. Cloud Times and the Rochester Post-Bulletin. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, and a master’s from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism in Evanston, Ill.
