NPC Softball: How sweep it is!

The National Press Club softball team rolled through a key divisional double header, beating National Journal 18-6 in five innings and Bloomberg 9-4.

The Press Club now has a 3-1 record, 2-0 in the Wheaton Forest Division.

In recent years, National Journal has played the Club very close. We've beaten them four times in a row, but always by a single run.

This time, we came out on fire. The top four hitters in the lineup, Richard Strauss,
Clay Kaufman, Mike Young, and Sarahanne Driggs, combined to go 16-16 with 15 runs scored against NJ. Really, that's just absurd. No one will ever beat us when we hit like that.

In game two, Bloomberg kept it close but couldn't muster much offense against former teammate Jim Rubin. In that game, it was the bottom of the order that did the damage. Varun Saxena, Richard Scorza, Amy Fickling, Jim Rubin, and Mike Diegel (who pinch hit for Rubin) scored five of the nine runs.

Honestly guys, it was a hell of a twin bill. And it was great having Press Club President Angela Greiling Keane join us at the field for the games, and afterward for pizza and beer.

Next weekend, we play WRC and Albritton (channels 7 and 8) at Capitol View. Another tough double header. But let's win two anyway.

You'll get the email from me either Sunday night or Monday. For now, enjoy. Great job.
