Online panel discussion with Washington Post Health & Science reporters, noon TODAY

Earlier this year, The Washington Post did something unusual, announcing it will add positions to its news operations over the coming months, including expanding its Health & Science section. Now the Post has launched Well+Being, a new personal health section, which is being overseen by veteran health reporter Tara Parker-Pope, who was recruited to serve as its editor.

On Wednesday, Oct. 26, from noon to 1 p.m., the National Press Club’s Communicators Team will host a virtual panel discussion with health and science reporters to talk about what led to the expansion, what readers can expect in the future and the hot issues and topics that drive daily coverage of health and science news.

Register online. This is a members-only event. Members must be logged into their member account on press.org to register.

Panelists include:

•    Krissah Thompson, managing editor for diversity and inclusion, who was instrumental in advocating for the expansion •    Tara Parker-Pope, founding editor of The New York Times’ award-winning consumer site, Well, who was recruited to serve as editor of the Well+Being section  •    Carolyn Johnson, science reporter, who has covered the business of health, the pharmaceutical industry, and the affordability of health care •    Dan Diamond, national health policy reporter who writes about health policy and politics, with a focus on COVID-19 and the nation's response.

NPC Communicators Team member Karen Addis, APR, president & CEO of Addis Communications, will moderate the panel discussion.
