Pairs of tickets for Club members for Tony award winner “Fun Home,” April 27

Kate Shindle, president of the Actors’ Equity Association, who spoke last month at a National Press Club Newsmaker news conference on the Trump administration’s proposed elimination of the National Endowment for the Arts, has generously offered the Club several complimentary pairs of tickets for the Thursday, April 27, 7 p.m. performance of “Fun Home,” now playing at the National Theatre.

Shindle is performing in the lead role in the touring production of the Tony award–winning musical. Following Thursday’s performance, NPC members attending are invited to join Shindle for a discussion about the Broadway show and her views on how proposed cuts to the National Endowment for the Arts will affect theater, music and the arts.

Fun Home” is based on Alison Bechdel's 2006 graphic memoir of the same name. The story concerns Bechdel's discovery of her own sexuality, her relationship with her gay father, and her attempts to unlock the mysteries surrounding his life.

Shindle, who has led Actors’ Equity since 2015, was selected as Miss America in 1998. In addition to her work on stage, she has appeared in major motion pictures and in broadcast television productions. A recent review in The Washington Post’s style section declared “Fun Home” “pure musical satisfaction.”
