Panel to discuss reporting behind Panama Papers May 12

Journalists involved in reporting on the Panama Papers will discuss their project at a National Press Club Journalism Institute program on May 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The program will be in the Bloomberg Room. RSVP using the link here. Tickets are required; $5 for Club members, $10 for the general public.

The panel will discuss the reporting behind the largest leak in journalism's history: 11.5 million financial records from Mossack Fonseca, one of the world's top creators of shell companies. The investigation prompted resignations, arrests and official inquiries in several countries. It also proved that investigative journalists -- 376 of them in 80 countries in this case -- can work collaboratively on scoops of global significance and multiply their impact.

Panelists include:

• Marina Walker Guevara, International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (IJIC) deputy director

• Will Fitzgibbon, ICIJ reporter

• Kevin Hall, Chief Economics Correspondent (McClatchy)

Tommy Burr, Club president and Washington correspondent for The Salt Lake Tribune, will moderate.
