American Legion Post 20, which meets in the Club, has been recognized by the D.C. Department of the Legion for its leadership during the last year. The Post remained active during the pandemic via Zoom meetings featuring guest speakers.

Post Commander Jim Noone is one of two Department commanders named "Commander of the Year" and one of six cited as "Outstanding Legionnaire."  The Post was one of three "Outstanding Post" recipients,  announced during the Department's annual convention held May 29 in the Club's Main Ballroom.  The Legion's Northeast Regional Vice Commander, Frank McDonald, was guest speaker.

Speaker portions of its meetings are open to all NPC members.  Commander Noone plans to return to in-person meeting in the Club's McClendon Room when pandemic protocols permit.

Unlike many Posts, 20 has expanded membership in recent years. The Legion is organized into 54 Departments, one for each state, D.C., Puerto Rico, Asia and Europe. Post 20 is one of the first chartered after World War I at the urging of Gen. John J. Pershing, a Club member.
