Reception Tonight at 7 p.m. at Chef & Artist Exhibition at Strathmore Mansion, Bethesda Which Features Press Club Chef

Women Chef and Restaurateurs is a nationwide community of women in all walks of the food and beverage industry. The local chapter paired 22 local women chefs with 21 artists to capture the essence of being a chef in a visual medium. As your National Press Club chef, I paired with Baltimore fabric artist, Catherine Kleeman for the event.

The show is called “Women Chef: Artists in the Kitchen” and runs now through Nov. 8 at Strathmore Mansion in Bethesda. The Mansion is located at 10701 Rockville Pike at the intersection with Tuckerman Lane in North Bethesda, Maryland. Mansion hours are Sunday noon-4 p.m., Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m/-4 p.m. and Wednesday 10 a.m.-9 p.m. The Mansion is closed on Mondays. All Press Club members are invited to attend. Directions are here.

There is also an opening reception tonight, Thursday, Sept. 10, 7 p.m., to which all are also all welcome. There is no cost

The cover photo/exhibition announcement for the show displays an apron with plastic gloves, multiple menus and utensils. “At Your Service” was the result of the conversation between artist Kleeman and me over lunch and a cooking demo at the Fourth Estate. You may note several Fourth Estate menus on the apron, including the Chef des Chefs lunch and Mardi Gras.

I will also do a cooking demo at Strathmore, at the exhibit, on Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. I will focus on a fish invading many local rivers and tributaries, the snakehead, and turn it into some delicious teriyaki appetizers. There is no cost, but reservations are requested
