Reliable Source to host Chinese New Year dinner, Feb. 5

National Press Club members and their guests are invited to attend Chinese New Year dinner on Tuesday, Feb. 5. You do not have to travel to Peking to taste Chinese delights -- they're here at the Club, waiting for you.

A special Chinese-style food and drink menu is planned as follows for :

Chinese New Year Menu (Year of the Pig)

Hors d'oeuvres offered at lunch (at the bar) and dinner; Entrees, dinner only

Hors d’oeuvres:

Selection of Asian vegetation finger food: Fried egg rolls w/hot mustard) (vegan), kale and vegetable pot stickers and steamed Edamame pot stickers $8

Selection of Asian omnivore finger food: Fried shrimp eggs rolls, crab Rangoon and steamed chicken and lemongrass pot stickers $8

Each selection served with three sauces: hot mustard, spicy peanut and red pepper soy.

Traditional Entrees to symbolize New Year aspirations:

Good luck stew with pork, sausage, black eyed peas and lentils over rice and beans (components symbolize coins and wealth) $20

Shrimp (fortune and wealth) and lobster (endless money) egg foo young (big and healthy family) with sauce over rice $22

Szechuan roasted pork and Asian greens on long noodles (for peace and longevity) with broth. [vegetarian substitution: seared tofu (Happiness and fortune for the entire family)] $20
