Reporters from Nicaragua, Cuba, Venezuela to discuss repression of journalism in their countries, Aug. 31

Latin America Press Repression

The National Press Club will host a press conference with journalists from Nicaragua, Cuba and Venezuela who will describe the growing repression of journalism by governments across Latin America at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 31.

The event, sponsored by the Club's Press Freedom Team, is open to credentialed press and Club members. There is no cost to register. Tickets are available online.

Speakers include: Tifani Roberts, Univision; Anibal Toruño, Radio Dario and the Voces el Libertad coalition; Armano Chaguaceda, Havana Times - La Razón; Luz Mely Reyes, Efecto Cocuyo; Carlos Roa, Asociación de Periodistas Venezolanos en el Extranjero

The event is supported by Fundamedios, Voces del Sur, Race & Equality, Inter American Press Association, The Inter-American Dialogue, Pan American Development Fund, IFEX-LAC, PEN-America, and PEN-International.

Members, guests and visitors are required to show proof of vaccination at the entrance to the Club. This can be a physical copy of your vaccination card, or a photo of it on your mobile device.
