Scholarship Team seeks judges to select winners

The National Press Club Scholarship Team is seeking volunteers in March and April to help judge applications for the first round of 2023 NPC scholarships.

The next judging session will be conducted virtually via Zoom over a two-hour period this Saturday, March 18. Judges will select the recipient of The Scholarship for Journalism Diversity Honoring Julie Schoo, a $5,000 award to a high school senior.

The purpose of the scholarship is to recruit promising future journalists who will bring diversity to American journalism. The award can be renewed for up to three years at $5,000 per year.

Judges will have a chance to review application materials the week prior to the session. If you'd like to be a judge or have questions about the selection process, contact Alexis Garcia ([email protected]) or Erin Looney ([email protected]) for details.

The Scholarship Team also will need judges for two April sessions to select recipients for the Lewis Scholarship (deadline: March 31) and the Dennis and Shirley Feldman Fellowship (deadline: April 15).
