Society for Environmental Journalists seeks executive director

If you are driven by the value of environmental reporting and have fundraising know-how, you might be a good fit as the next executive director for the Society for Environmental Journalists (SEJ).

SEJ, an educational non-profit with 1,300 members and a $1 million budget, educates and empowers journalists, educators, and students to advance the understanding of environmental issues.

Responsibilities include: cultivating relationships with donors; managing a budget; overseeing membership systems, services and programs; and developing strategic plans and partnerships.

Applicants need to have experience supervising staff and volunteers, and supporting board-member development. Additionally, they need to be able to work with digital tools for communication, finance and organizational management.

This position is exempt and full-time, with a competitive salary and benefits.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree (graduate degree preferred) or equivalent experience in journalism and mass communications, or business or non-profit management.

SEJ has on office of record in Washington, D.C., but the post is open to candidates who would prefer to work remotely. The position will be open until filled. Candidate reviews begin on April 1.
