Submit your entry for best media coverage by April 15

The Arthur Rowse Award for Press Criticism is an opportunity to showcase work published in 2020 that covered the media.

The deadline for entries in the National Press Club awards contest is April 15. The Rowse awards are offered for print and broadcast and each has a $750 prize. The cost of an entry is free for Club members and $75 for non-members. Details for submission are available online.

Entries can include up to five articles or broadcasts (not necessarily in the same outlet) and must be accompanied by a letter explaining the significance of the work and any subsequent actions resulting from its publication or airing.

The award is sponsored by Arthur E. (Ted) Rowse, former staff editor at The Washington Post and U.S. News & World Report.

The award honor excellence in examining the essential role of the news media in a free society. Entries should focus especially on the performance of journalists in the face of opposition and misunderstanding.

The contest includes categories for consumer news, politics, online journalism, breaking news, photos, coverage of elderly issues, stories about animals and their well-being, and other issues. The awards will be presented this summer by the Club.
