Tax guide, tailored to journalists, available in library

Free copies of the 2013 "CCH Tax Guide for Journalists" are available for National Press Club members in the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library. The guide provides tax help for reporters, freelance writers and photographers.

Developed specifically for print and electronic news reporters, photographers, freelance writers, professional bloggers and others who write for a living, the guide is a plain-language resource that provides quick, easy-to-find information for completing 2012 tax returns. It also includes up-to-date guidance for the 2013 tax year.

Published by Commerce Clearing House, the 2013 edition of the guide has been updated to include the changes in the tax laws and regulations from 2012, including those that specifically affect journalists and home office-based professionals who write for a living.

Other topics covered in the guide include; business expenses; foreign correspondents living abroad; income from prizes, awards and copyrights; libel insurance; online service fees' strike pay and union dues; and home office deductions.
