Three dinners this week feature broadcasters speaking about their experiences

In-person events are returning to the National Press Club, and it's the season for special dinners featuring exceptional journalists and a commentator who will talk shop to an audience of their peers.

This week has a full schedule. Be sure to reserve your spot for one, two or all three evening meal events.

 

May 17: Communicators Team’s Legends Dinner

Maria Cardona will be the featured speaker for an evening that begins with a cash bar reception at 6:30 p.m. in the Cosgrove Lounge. A three-course dinner begins at 7 p.m. Recognized as one of the most influential Latinos in the country, Cardona is a principal at the Dewey Square Group (DSG) and founder of Latinovations, DSG's Latino strategies practice. She serves as a CNN and CNN en Español political commentator, as well as the host of the MARIA! Show on El Rey Network. All Club members are invited and the event is for Club members only. May 18: Broadcast & Podcast Team's Legends of Broadcasting Dinner

Diane Rehm, long-time public radio host at WAMU 88.5, will be honored at the event in the Holeman Lounge that begins at 6:30 p.m. with a cash bar reception, followed by a three-course dinner that begins at 6:45 p.m. At 7:30 p.m. Rehm is scheduled to speak and then open the floor to an informal question-and-answer session to end by 8:30 p.m. In 1979, she began hosting WAMU’s local morning talk show, "Kaleidoscope," which was renamed "The Diane Rehm Show" in 1984. "The Diane Rehm Show" grew to have international reach and a weekly on-air audience of nearly 3 million. Tickets can be ordered here.

 

May 19: Silver Owls Spring Hoot

Sam Feist, CNN Washington bureau chief, headlines the Silver Owls Spring Hoot, to which all Club members and their guests are invited for a dinner in the Ballroom that includes appetizers followed by a full course dinner. Feist oversees the operations of the DC bureau, including CNN’s largest news gathering operation, the production of CNN’s Washington-based programming and major political events such as election nights, conventions, inaugurations, town halls and debates. He is also responsible for projecting winners on Election Night. Feist is on the board of the NPC Journalism Institute.
