Tickets still available for Silver Owl Fall Hoot, Saturday, Nov. 15, noon

There’s still time to reserve seats for the National Press Club's Silver Owls Fall Hoot at noon Saturday, Nov. 15.

Tickets are $35 a person, which includes lunch and can be purchased here. A cash bar for early drinkers is expected to be available. And if, for some reason, you don’t make a reservation, the Press Club can accommodate a few walk-ins.

The Hoot's planned program features a performance of the famed Whiffen Hoot song by the Owls’ own Dreadful Singers, as well as a talk on how a writer goes about producing a biography of a famous person. The speaker will be John Aloysius (Jack) Farrell, who is at work on a new biography of President Richard M. Nixon. A big question that could be answered is how one finds something different to say in a new biography.

Farrell, who fundamentally is a newspaper reporter, already has produced two award winning biographies of former House Speaker Thomas P. (Tip) O’Neill and Clarence Darrow, the renowned defense attorney.
