Toastmasters offer opportunity to hone speaking skills, 2nd and 4th Mondays

Toastmasters meets at the National Press Club on the second and fourth Mondays each month from 7-8:30 p.m.

The sessions are open to both Club members and the public, so come Monday, June 13, to hone your speaking skills.

What do 9/11, prison and Maya Angelou have in common? These were the topics of recent speeches given at recent Toastmasters meetings at the Club.

We heard how 9/11 was a pivotal point to a new career for someone who traversed the city on foot that day. We heard how a chance encounter between a waitress and the author Maya Angelou led to a long-term friendship. We also learned how one Toastmaster began his speaking career while serving time in prison.

If you like a good story and want to expand your own talents, please come and be our guest and see what Toastmasters is all about.
