TODAY: Communicators Lunch and Learn virtual event explores How to Publish a Book

Two Communicator members who are also successful authors will provide advice on book publishing based on their recent experiences, during a “Lunch and Learn” hosted by the National Press Club Communicators Team on Thursday, May 19, at 12 p.m.

This is an online/virtual program and is free for Club members ONLY. Click here to register.

The session will feature Ed Barks and Edward Segal, who are longtime NPC members and government and media relations and business management experts. They also have written books for professional communicators.

Ed Barks

Barks is a communications strategy consultant and has independently published four books based on his research on today’s important communications issues. His latest book, “Insider Strategies for the Confident Communicator,” describes the strategies savvy communicators practice every day to achieve their business and public policy goals.

Edward Segal

“Crisis Ahead: 101 Ways to Prepare for and Bounce Back from Disasters, Scandals, and Other Emergencies," is Segal’s handbook on how to prepare for, manage, and recover from even the toughest and most devastating crises. It was published by Nicholas Brealey, which is part of the Hachette Book Group, one of the world’s largest publishers of trade and educational books.

The two authors will describe the merits of going on your own or working with a publishing company to reach wide audiences. They will also review how technology and the internet have impacted the publishing industry.

Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions directly to the authors during the session.

The NPC Communicators Team hosts the Lunch and Learn series to provide professional tips and techniques for Club members. Previous topics have included discussions about crisis communications, social media strategy, op-ed writing and the state of the public relations industry.
