Tonight at 6:30 p.m.: DC journalist plans to discuss new biography of Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen

Veteran Washington journalist Owen Ullmann plans to share insights about Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, the subject of his new biography, Empathy Economics: Janet Yellen's Remarkable Rise to Power and Her Drive to Spread Prosperity to All, at a National Press Club Headliners book event on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 6:30 p.m.

Yellen is the first person to hold all three of America’s top economic policy positions: Treasury Secretary (the first woman to hold the job), chair of the Federal Reserve (also the first woman to hold the job) and of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers.

In "Empathy Economics," Ullmann draws an intimate portrait of Yellen's heart and mind as he tells a riveting story of her unmatched journey through Washington's most powerful circles. The book also explores Yellen’s approach to economics, including her commitment to putting those on the bottom half of the economic ladder at the center of economic policy.

The program will include a question-and-answer session with Ullmann. Tickets cost $5 for members of the National Press Club and $10 for the general public.  Pre-ordered books will be available for pickup and signing at the event.
