Tonight: Kalb report explores the search of truth

Moderator Marvin Kalb will be joined by PBS NewsHour Anchor and Managing Editor Judy Woodruff, Washington Post Columnist Eugene Robinson and legendary ABC News Nightline Anchor Ted Koppel for an exploration of where our nation is in determining what is truth in a virtual event to premiere on Monday, Sept. 13, at 8 p.m. ET.

The live stream can be found here. The one-hour program launches the 27th season of the Kalb Report, the Club’s leading public affairs forum, begun in 1994.

After more than five years of basic truths and facts seemingly up for grabs, Kalb said he wants his guests to explore how the news media can help sustain democracy when a large portion of the electorate no longer believes it.

“Without that commonly accepted understanding of basic truths, basic facts on which we base our government’s decisions, how do we maintain and then sustain a viable, functioning democracy?” asks Kalb.

Monday’s program will also be broadcast later on Maryland Public Television and distributed to stations nationwide this fall. The Kalb Report series is funded by a grant from Inasmuch Foundation.
