TONIGHT: Virtual Book Rap features photos of East Bloc countries after Soviet Union fell, 7 p.m.

National Press Club member Ron N. Hoffer plans to discuss his book "From the Bronx to Berlin and Beyond" at a Virtual Book Rap at 7 p.m. tonight, Thursday, Jan. 21

Hoffer is a specialist in water and environmental management. He has worked with the Environmental Protection Agency, the World Bank and state governments. He always has his camera with him and has become known as a documentary photographer.

"From the Bronx to Berlin and Beyond "is a set of photographs taken in the late 1980s and ’90s in East Germany and Czechoslovakia. The photographs are augmented by explanatory text. The book is a record of life following the fall of the Soviet Union. The photographs in the book show the bleakness and the hopes as people moved from Soviet control into a new future.
