Top VOA reporter to discuss war in Ukraine at American Legion Post 20 meeting, Nov. 10

Voice of America Chief National Correspondent Steve Herman plans to discuss the war in Ukraine and efforts to get accurate information into Ukraine and Russia, during the National Press Club's American Legion Post 20 meeting at noon Thursday, Nov. 10, in the Reliable Source's McClendon Room.

Herman's talk had been originally scheduled for the Sept. 8 Post 20 meeting. With new developments in the conflict since late summer, and more U.S. military aid being made available to Ukraine, he should have even more information to discuss.

Herman has served as a VOA correspondent and bureau chief in India, Korea and Thailand. He also served in 2016 as VOA's senior diplomatic correspondent, based at the State Department. He then covered the entire Trump administration and the first eight months of the Biden administration as VOA's White House bureau chief.

His travels have taken him to approximately 75 countries, which included on-scene reporting from combat zones, civil uprisings and areas struck by major natural disasters. He's a former president of the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan and the Seoul Foreign Correspondents' Club.

All Club members are invited to the meeting, which will be hybrid. Those unable to attend in person can join by Zoom.

Historic Post 20 was founded at the Club in 1919 at the suggestion of famed World War I General John J. Pershing. At the time, Pershing was serving in Washington and was an associate member of the Club.
