Travel Photo Advice at Photo Committee Meeting, Noon, May 27

NPC member Michael Foley will speak at the Photography Committee luncheon meeting at noon on Thursday, May 27, in the McClendon Room.

Foley will discuss, "Travel Photography: The Journey is the Destination.” He will describe how a photo trip can start at the window seat of a plane. He will provide tips for taking good travel shots and optimizing them using Photoshop. Foley’s topics will include using various focal lengths, shooting at different times of the day, creating panoramic shots, and carrying a small camera and a tiny tripod. Overall, Foley’s advice leads to one of his major points: Anyone can improve his or her photography with a heightened awareness rather than investing in more equipment.

Foley, who alternates between his native Dublin and Washington DC, is a freelance photographer and consultant to the World Bank, specializing in the application of new media and information and communications technologies to knowledge dissemination and sharing.

Foley displayed some of his photos in an exhibit, "Faces of South Asia,” in the Club’s lobby in June 2009. His photos were on loan from the World Bank’s Art Program.
