Two chances to celebrate Rockwell auction at the Club, Nov. 19

Club members will have two opportunities to celebrate the Rockwell auction on Thursday, Nov. 19.

First, members should join us at 10 a.m. in the Reliable Source, as we all watch our Rockwell painting go to auction.

Then join us again in the Reliable Source that evening starting at 5 p.m. to celebrate with half-price dinners.

The Reliable Source restaurant will be closed for the auction-watching. The event is free, but members are asked to RSVP by clicking here. Every member will receive a complimentary cocktail and appetizers will be served.

In the evening hours, the Reliable Source will be open as normal for that part of the celebration.

Members may also pre-order Rockwell posters for $15 to commemorate this event. The posters are expected to be packed and ready for pickup at the event.

The boards of the National Press Club and non-profit National Press Club Journalism Institute recently voted to sell our Norman Rockwell painting, "Norman Rockwell Visits a Country Editor." The sale is scheduled to occur at an auction at Christie's and the artwork is expected to sell for $10 to $15 million. Seventy percent of the proceeds will go to the Club and 30 percent to the institute.

If you cannot make the reception, but want to see the auction live, you can go to http://www.christies.com/livebidding/index.aspx on the Christie's site.
