Veterans' advocate Duff to speak at Post 20 meeting Nov. 5

Retired Marine Corp gunnery sergeant and veterans' advocate Jessie Jane Duff will be guest speaker at the next meeting of National Press Club's American Legion Post 20 at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 5, in the Game Room. The speaker portions of Post meetings are open to all Club members.

Duff is a frequent commentator on Fox News, CNN, MSNBC and other TV and radio outlets and is the author of numerous articles and op-eds on military and veterans affairs. She served 20 years on active duty during which her awards included three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals and two Achievement Medals.

She has been a strong critic of healthcare shortcomings at the Department of Veterans Affairs and has worked to improve voting access for active duty personnel. She will provide a fresh assessment of VA management since the resignation of VA Secretary Eric Shinseki and the July 29 confirmation of his successor, Robert McDonald, who will be an Luncheon speaker on Friday, Nov. 7.
