Veterans' history project is subject of American Legion Post meeting

The Club's American Legion Post 20 is to hear frm Bob Patrick, director of the Veterans History Project at the Library of Congress, at its next meeting, beginning at noon Thursday, Sept. 18, in the McClendon Room. Speaker portions of Post meetings are open to all Club members.

Congress created the Veterans History Project to collect, preserve and make accessible the first-person accounts of American's wartime veterans. Close to 100,000 veterans have submitted their personal recollections, making this the largest such collection in American history.

Patrick, a retired Army colonel, manages a nationwide network of volunteer interviewers and organizations. He will distribute project field kits at the Post 20 meeting.
