Washington Post Editorial Cartoonist Tom Toles to headline Spring Hoot May 1

Tom Toles, editorial cartoonist for The Washington Post, will display both his musical and cartooning skills at the Silver Owls Spring Hoot on Friday, May 1, at the National Press Club.

Toles, who won a 1990 Pulitzer Prize for his editorial cartoons and has been at the Post since 2002, is also the leader of a band known as the "Suspicious Package." Toles will first lead his band at the Hoot and then relate how he comes up with an idea and then draws his award-winning cartoons.

Before coming to the Post, Toles drew editorial cartoons for The Buffalo News, The Buffalo Courier-Express and The New York Daily News as well as for The New Republic and U.S. News and World Report magazines.

The Hoot, which is open to all National Press Club members and guests, begins with a 6:30 p.m.cash bar cocktail party, followed by a 7:30 p.m. sit-down dinner. The cost is $35 per person.
