This Week In National Press Club history

July 30, 1984: Louis Farrakhan, Nation of Islam leader, holds his first major press briefing at a National Press Club luncheon. And 1962 Pulitzer Prize winner Theodore H. White (The Making of the President 1960) returns his Fourth Estate Award (1980) in protest.

This Week In National Press Club History is sponsored by the History & Heritage Committee, which preserves and revitalizes the Club’s distinguished history through lobby displays, panel discussions, events and oral history interviews.
