May 1, 1950 : Volume One of the Record is released, the first regularly published Club newsletter.

May 1, 1992 : Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, chairman of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness, says other countries take physical fitness more seriously than Americans do and that one hour in the gym today means one hour less in the doctor’s office tomorrow.

May 5, 1954 : Former President Harry S. Truman speaks at the first air-conditioned luncheon in the ballroom.
