This Week in National Press Club History

May 24, 1973: Performer Carole Channing appears at the Club’s “Lorelei” party.

May 26, 1992: Tennis Champion Arthur Ashe urges the press to be more sensitive to people’s privacy. He had contracted AIDS through a blood transfusion.

May 29, 1941: Gen. George C. Marshall, wartime Chief of Staff, gives his first address to the National Press Club, one of many American and Allied military leaders who have appeared at the Club.
