Writings of Civil War era African American women at March 28 event

Writings of Civil War era African American women, as well as poetry of a three-time National Book Award finalist will share the noon stage Friday March 28 in the McLendon Room of the National Press Club.

In separate presentations, Lavonda Broadnax, winner of the 2013 Zora Neale Hurston Award, will speak on the historical writing, and Marilyn Nelson, Poet Laureate Emeritus of Connecticut, will read from her work.
